Prayers, Chants and Meditation have been proven forces for peace in the world. Meditation has been found to not only transform the practitioner; studies have suggested that large groups of people engaged in meditation may have effected a reduction in violence within neighboring communities. Reportedly during the early 1970’s – the 1990’s studies were done related to the effects of large groups numbering in the thousands, who had engaged in synchronized transcendental meditation. Reportedly, according the author of Permanent Peace, by Robert M. Oates, the results of these studies were published by the Rand Corporation, and were astounding.
Regardless of what you may think of the these studies, the practice of meditation and practicing non violent problem solving cannot and will not hurt…. in fact it just may actually help!!
If you are someone who prays, chants and or meditates, or if you are someone considering exploring any of these practices as part of your personal journey, it may be helpful to join a local group or perhaps a global practice.
If you scroll down you may enjoy listening to Tina Turner chanting a peace chant and also the Tibetan chant “OM Mani Padme Hung” , which is a prayer for compassion.
